• Cryotherapy uses extremely low temperatures to treat skin lesions including tags, moles, warts, verrucas and age spots. At Parome clinic, we use CryoPen – an advanced cryotherapy technology that emits a fine jet of nitrous oxide under high pressure allowing our skilled doctors to work with millimetre precision.

The nitrous oxide freezes cell fluid to form ice crystals which then rupture cell membranes to effectively destroy the lesion. Healthy surrounding skin remains unaffected making this treatment accurate and safe.* The great news is that the treatment is over in just seconds leaving you free to get on with your day.

The Dermapen Cryo™ uses disposable cartridges of liquefied N2O to deliver quick, effective cryotherapy treatments to benign skin lesions. The N20 destroys tissues by freezing the intercellular fluid and forming ice shards and crystals that rupture the cell’s membrane, destroying the cells.

Because it delivers N2O directly onto the lesion and not the healthy surrounding tissue, it can safely treat lesions on the face and around the delicate eye area. Dermapen Cryo™ accurately delivers an ultra-cold, high-pressure N20 jet directly onto the lesion, making it very effective. It is also very fast, with a penetration rate of 1mm per 5 seconds and able to penetrate to a depth of 5mm deep.

The CryoPen treatment process

  • We’ve chosen CryoPen to treat skin lesions as its design and technology enables us to work in extremely fine detail. The treatment follows a straightforward freeze-thaw-freeze process as detailed below:
  • 1st cycle freeze – we’ll hold the CryoPen as close as possible to the lesion before moving quickly towards and away from it. This will take 1 to 30 seconds depending on the size and depth of the lesion
  • Thaw – the lesion is left to thaw for about 30 seconds
  • 2nd cycle freeze – we’ll complete another freeze cycle. This is quicker than the first cycle as the tissue will freeze faster than during the first freezing cycle.

  • Fast and effective removal of skin tags and moles and other lesions.
  • Rarely affects surrounding skin
